St. Charles Community Health Center, a not-for-profit health clinic, has flu shots available for $15 per person, agency spokeswoman Renee Helmstetter said. There is no shortage of shots this year, but supplies are limited, Helmstetter said. The center has about 3,000 shots available and has administered about 1,000 shots since Nov. 10, she said. The center at 843 Milling Ave., Luling, is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the Thanksgiving holiday. No appointment is necessary, Helmstetter said. The clinic can provide patients with a receipt and verification that they received the shot to get reimbursement from their insurance company. Flu shots also will be available on the clinic's mobile medical unit in New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish, Helmstetter said. The unit typically is stationed at Federal Emergency Management Agency or Red Cross assistance centers and at large stores in the hurricane-damaged areas, she said. A schedule of the mobile unit's times and locations will be available next week by calling the St. Charles clinic at (985) 785-5800, she said.
