MEDICAL ASSISTANT – The Medical Assistant provides patient care under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse. Responsible for rooming patients, taking vital signs, and facilitating the work flow of the physician schedule. Orders and retrieves the patient’s medical records, x-ray films, scans, lab work, etc. in preparation for the patient’s office visit. Performs computer data entry to maintain and update the patient’s electronic medical record. Performs general clerical duties in support of patient care including answering phones, relaying messages, placing follow-up calls to patients, copying, and faxing. Performs administrative work in support of the Medical Director including scheduling meetings, calendar management, coordinating new provider orientation, and alerting Medical Director to any changes in schedule and/or coverage. High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program required. Prior medical assistant experience or healthcare experience preferred. Phlebotomy skills required. Computer/typing experience required. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions. Demonstrate a high level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Mon-Fri 8am – 4pm Department: Family Practice Position Location: Luling, LA |
